What is the Peer Mentor Program?
The Peer Mentor Program is designed to showcase role models in the school, and represent The Art Institute of California-San Francisco during internal and external events such as Orientation, Graduation and student events and activities. The Peer Mentors will have a positive influence on future/current students as well as developing their own leadership capabilities.

Mission Statement
The mission of The Art Institute of California-San Francisco Peer Mentor Program is to allow current students an opportunity to participate in creating and enhancing the college community. Through participation in a cohesive training program students are given the opportunity to enhance their leadership skills, and prepare for interactions with current and prospective students. The Peer Mentors’ dedication and positive interaction with peers and visitors will serve to benefit The Art Institute of California-San Francisco community.
What are the benefits to being a Peer Mentor?

What are the qualifications in order to be eligible?
- Minimum of a 2.5 CGPA.
- Completed a minimum of 1 quarter at AiCASF.
- In good academic, financial, and disciplinary standing with the school.
- Excellent oral communication skills and poise in interacting with diverse populations.
- Enrolled in at least 12 credit hours per quarter.
- Registered to work on campus.
- We are always willing to accept applications from all majors, but there is only one slot open per major, with the exception of MAA which has two. Please check signage or Tera Porterfield Balog for information on specific major openings.
What are my obligations as a Peer Mentor?
- Commitment to the Peer Mentor Program for a minimum of 2 quarters.
- Mandatory participation in Orientation on Friday, July 11, 2008 and Friday, October 3, 2008
- Present in coordination with Academic Advising at 1 Portfolio Foundations class each quarter
- Participation in Opening Night, 1st week activities, Graduation, Open House and 1 large scale Peer Mentor event
- Participation/facilitation of 1 event per month as determined by the Director of Student Development.
- Participation in Peer Mentor Week and facilitation of 1 event for that week.
- Mandatory training sessions being held on Tuesday, July 8 from 10am-5pm and Tuesday, September 30, 2008
- Attend weekly meetings.
- Maintain a minimum of a 2.5 GPA.
- Other duties as assigned.
What is the process of becoming a Peer Mentor?
Fill out the Peer Mentor application. Your application will be reviewed and an interview may be scheduled. Interviews will be conducted by the Student Development Office. Upon completion of interviews, students will be notified of their status with the program.
How do I apply?
- Register with Career Services.
- Go to Financial Aid to determine Federal Work Study eligibility.
- Review job description and ensure you meet all of the qualifications for the position.
- Complete application and turn in by the Friday of Week 9 at 5pm.
- Have recommendation form filled out by a teacher, staff member, current or previous supervisor-make sure it is turned in by Friday of Week 8 at 5pm
- Get a copy of your unofficial transcript and turn in with application.
- If hired, you must complete the Human Resources orientation that happens every Tuesday at 12pm on the 7th floor. You MUST complete all paperwork before you start working.
